The 7th Annual Nevis Triathlon took place on Sunday 15th March 2009. There were 108 athletes from 15 Nations/islands represented at the event - St Kitts and Nevis, USA, Canada, UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, France, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada, St Martin, Saba, Antigua and the British Virgin Islands. Many of the atheletes and their spectators took advantage of the special accomodation offer for the event at the Oualie Beach Resort.
The weather was perfect for the swim/bike/run although some of the competitors from more Northern climes were not used to competing in the heat. The pre-event "pasta party" was held at Oualie beach Resort on the Saturday night.
Nevisian athelete, Reggie Douglas held on to his OECS championship title for the 4th year running. Kristina Stoney, also representing Nevis, captured the OECS female title for the first time.
Team Puerto Rico really excelled and took 1st and 2nd in both the Sprint Female and Olympic Male categories:-

The next exciting event will be the Nevis To St Kitts Cross Channel Swim on the 29th March 2009.
